Having been a guest at a couple W’s across the globe (L.A and Barcelona), I was thrilled to hear that the one in Bali had recently opened, when I was there a couple of weeks ago. And so, it was without fail, that I managed to wrangle a couple of invites to the Grand Premier of Woobar on the 1st of April. I do have to apologise though, for the absence of pictures from my personal camera … simply put, I didn’t have one with me that night.
We got there too late for the whole shabang that’s normally affiliated with the grand opening of a property as beautiful as the W, but we were inspired by the interior, exterior and the view that Seminyak had to offer nonetheless.
The crowd was already hyper by that hour (round about 11.30pm or so), so my partner Bobby and I took our time to explore the space, WooBar, that Poole Associates had been commisioned to design (they also took charge of the 5 other spaces within the resort, ie: Starfish Bloo + Ice Bar, FIRE, The Greatroom and the Welcome Centre). The gorgeous deck had been beautifully landscaped by Karl Princic of Intaran Bali, who used 380 palm trees to fill the spaces, some of which were cleverly placed in the pool.
And of course, one had to take advantage of the unforgetable view that was on offer, with large rolling waves looking almost like billowing clouds in the sky.
The WooBar was understatedly gorgeous, and what really caught my eye was a 7-metre chrome-finished Big Ass Fan that hung above the Coral Bar, accompanied by 2 Isis Big Ass Fans in Satin Aluminium finish, over the dance floor and under the skylights.
The look of the bar is complete with bespoke furniture (designed exclusively for WooBar) in the form of round day beds, large lounge chairs, dining chairs and various side and dining tables.
And as with every W that I’ve been too, the intelligent play with lights, mirrors, glass and textures throughout the property (only got to see the reception area of Bali’s), makes for a visual and tactile feast when one enters. AB Concept did an AMAZING job with the interiors, as seen on their website.
Next time I travel, I’m checking into the W no doubt (they’re dotted across the globe, and increasing as we speak). With it’s Whatever/Whenever service, they’ll make my dreams come true (as long as it’s legal, and I can afford it!)
Love, light and all things beautiful,
xxxA
P.S: All pictures taken off Google. (this time ….. next, I’m taking MY camera!!)
